Goals for this upcoming year
-Invest in Professional Pom Uniforms/New Pay Structure: Coach decided to invest in a good quality pom garment that will be available to be worn for 3 years time. This will aid in the yearly cost of dance dues, by having 2 years of low costs in-between new uniform purchases.
-Introduce more guest choreographers: Coach introduced Ms. Danielle back as Guest Choreographer for Jazz this season, Ms. Haley as our Assistant Volunteer Coach , Ms. Lindsey as our Guest Pom Choreographer for the season.
- Invest in Professional Music mixed: Coach Legier attended the GHSA professional music training where other schools talked about getting copyright music approval process and sources on getting professional music. The team has invested in a professional pre-mix for Basketball and a custom mix for competition pom.
- Invest in Professional advertisement such as banners and posters: We enjoyed our First Ever
Professional Photographer Mr. David Hanks giving us a great photo session! We utilized those pictures
in our First Ever Senior Banners for the Gym Arena, we updated our website roster with our new photos,
we updated a professional team photo for our Dance Team Bulletin Board on the third floor, and we
have our FIRST EVER Advertising 6 Ft Banner for future events. Coach instructed our social media presence on instagram to mimic collegiate socials, and also has worked on the professionalism and upkeep in our website development.
- Securing Sponsorship: update soon
- Ranking at least one placement higher in Jazz at competition.
-We have not competed in Pom competition in many years so we are having this be our base year to take data.
- Growing the team to 15 dancers total: We were shy of our goal this year, with a total of 11 dancers for the Spirit team. We did grow in having our First Ever TWO Varsity Alternates for Varsity! We will continue to invest in community presence and interest opportunities.
- Attending Local Community dance camps and other community events: UGA Spirit Day was on an individual bases and not doing teams option thru Varsity Company this year. Few of our Dancers participated in UGA College Prep Clinic November 2023. We would like to secure sponsorship to attend the Spring UGA Clinic as a team. NBA Dance Performance in Atlanta was offered but no sign-ups committed. Solos at competition was offered but no sign ups committed.
- Fundraising opportunities: New to the 23-24 season, we had the pleasure of participating in the Golf Cart Raffle Fundraiser to help support Dancer Dues and Booster Club funds. We had the opportunity to participate in fundraising thru our First Ever Dance Team Apparel and Accessories Store.
- Elevated Banquet Night: coming soon.

Words of the 22-23 Season: Risk and Sharp

Sharp:
Other Accomplishments:
Risk:
- -Watched prior footage and doubled our amount of transitions in our routines, making the routines more complex and energetic!
- -Developed different hip-hop skills such as learning to shuffle and B-boy stances during our 2022 Summer Camp. We ended up using our b-boy stances in our performances!
- -Getting off the floor. We challenged ourselves to get our feet off the floor like never before. We added flips, headsprings and other tricks to expand our choreography.
- -Invested in Professional Uniforms. We invested in our spirit uniform and chose a professional custom hoodie and custom gold tank to really shine and come together as a cohesive team.
- -Staying with the times! We customized and cut a music mix to keep the energy pumped for our routines, just like the pros.
- -We added a third dance, a pom routine, to our busy schedule. The girls were dedicated to trying pom and we made it happen. So glad we did! The Principal of MVHS personally complimented our team and looks forward to more pom in the future!
- We had many footage review days to evaluate our skills from performances, as well as footage inspiration sessions where we took inspiration and attempted new ideas.
Sharp:
- We dedicated a whole week during the summer for our 1st Annual Summer Camp training. We worked hard on technique training preparing for the season.
- We had the pleasure and fortune of having a wonderful trained technique dancer, and prior MV graduate, Ms. Danielle, come help us with technique training at season open and also with our chorography.
- We were dedicated to being diligent with our counts of music to make sure every move had a count to land on.
Other Accomplishments:
- Large Interest! Having the dance room full 4 rows deep of wonderful girls coming to try-out. The dancers worked with each one, and we loved getting to know our student body!
- For the first time in years, we invested in a jazz uniform that was flowy, elegant and non-school related but instead song inspired, to compare to other high ranking dance teams.
- Majority of dancers maintaining academic excellence and involved with community/school groups making change!
